With a distinct fusion of folk, roots, and pop, the music of the Deceptions captivates the audience with mature lyrics and diverse
musicality. Their songs illustrate the distinct lyrical stylings of songwriters Jared Fretz and Dan Krofcheck.
For nearly a decade this song writing team has been unwavering in their committment to the revitalization of original American roots
rock and roll. This tandem has produced a vast catalog of original titles, and has brought to life honest stories about
transformation, uncertainty, new beginnings, and sometimes heartrending endings. Their music is unpredictable, and their catalog
ranges from ethereal pop-driven epics to folk-style mandolin and accordian driven sing-a-longs. Their sound is influenced by
a diverse collection of artists including Ryan Adams, Wilco, the Old 97s, the Counting Crows, Social Distortion, Johnny
Cash, The Band, and Neil Young.
Standing in Doorways, the latest EP by the Deceptions, was recorded at the Church Recording
Studio in Pittsburgh, under the direction Dana Cannone and Peter Guellard. Select tracks are now available at music.thedeceptions.com.
The Deceptions will
be in the studio this fall to complete their next album.
